The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Firefly Electric and Lighting Corporation (FELCO) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) today, May 2, to work together in order to improve the technical learning of trainees enrolled under the Electrical Installation and Maintenance National Certificate (EIM NC) II program.
As per the MOA, FELCO, the exclusive distributor of Firefly Lighting and Royu Electrical products in the country, will provide sets of Royu Electricians’ kit to be used for TESDA’s EIM NC II program.
38 TESDA Technological Institutions (TTIs) and Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in NCR, Regions IV-A, VIII, and X shall receive the said sponsored learning materials for the EIM NC II module classroom discussion and application.
FELCO will be providing a set each for 23 TTIs and TVIs in the National Capital Region and Region IV-A.
In addition, five (5) sets will be given to Region VIII TTIs and ten (10) will be given to Region X TTIs.
TESDA Director General, Secretary Isidro Lapeña emphasized the agency’s thrust towards improving training facilities across the country and underscored the importance of partnerships with industry leaders like FELCO in achieving the said objective.
“I made a commitment to improve facilities of our TESDA Schools and training centers. Contributions such as those included in this memorandum of agreement will help us realize this goal,” the TESDA chief said.
As per the agreement, TESDA shall share the list of TTIs and TVIs offering EIM NCII in NCR, Regions IV-A, VIII, and X with FELCO, as well as the number of trainees enrolled under the program nationwide for the school year 2019.
Meanwhile, in addition to the provision of 38 sets of Royu Electricians’ Kit, the company also arranged to conduct product knowledge discussion with select batches of EIM NC II trainees.
“This kind of assistance will increase the competitiveness of our trainees. The availability of up-to-date tools coupled with relevant product knowledge discussions will not only contribute to the upgrading of knowledge and skills of TESDA trainees, but also boost their confidence having been exposed to relevant tools in the course of their training,” Lapeña noted.
