Technical Education and Skills Development Authority chief SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA introduced our inspirational leader and the keynote speaker of the occasion, President BENIGNO SIMEON C. AQUINO III during the 13th CEO Forum & 188th General Membership Meeting of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines (SEIPI) in Manila Peninsula, Makati. SEIPI had been a constant partner of TESDA in training and employment of TESDA graduates in the semi-conductor and electronics sector. Employment rate of TESDA graduates in this industry has reached an all-time high of almost 96%. The industry employs 331,000 and indirect employment reaches up to 2.3 million workers.
Exports in this industry continue to grow and has peaked to $24 Billion, which accounts for 42.2% of our country’s total exports. One Peso increase in export sales generates at least 12 centavos additional indirect taxes in the economy. Sec Joel constantly engages key employment generating industries like the semi-con and electronics to partner with TESDA in many Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) with the goal of providing quality jobs to tech-voc graduates.
