TESDA under the leadership of SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA, and International Labor Organization (ILO) headed by Country Director Lawrence Jeff Johnson are joining forces for the "Skills Training Alternative Livelihoods ILO/TESDA Collaboration for Yolanda Response" to help an initial 1,850 beneficiaries in provinces stricken by the devastating typhoon. TESDA and ILO signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that aims to restore and improve livelihoods of families through gainful employment and other income generating activities. The beneficiaries will be targeted initially in Coron, Northern Cebu, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Tacloban and Ormoc and trainees will be sourced from the emergency employment registration established by DOLE and those identified by TESDA.

"Rebuilding should not be the work of a sole agency, but the whole community... How to do this -- empower the people, arm them with the skills, provide them with tools, so that they become an essential part of communities rising from the shambles."

"Sa TESDA, may choice ka." - SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA
