PHILIPPINE EDUCATION TRIUMVIRATE SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA OF TESDA, BRO. ARMIN LUISTRO, FSC OF DEPED AND CHAIRPERSON PATRICIA LICUANAN OF CHED signed the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the K to 12 Program or the Enhanced Basic Education Curriculum. The program aims to provide "sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship." The development of the K to 12 Program and its implement rules and regulations has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of DepEd, CHED, TESDA and other stakeholders.

"The K to 12 is not just “additional years” but a far-reaching instrument for development. This means that as the skills of our human resources continue to improve, the country’s competitiveness will further increase. I also believe that the K to 12 will put a premium to tech-voc by making it a career pathway for our youth. I am confident that High School students will embrace it as an option."
