TESDA with its chief SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA signed a memorandum of agreement with the Visayan Electric Company (VECO) for Lineman’s Basic Training Program. Under the agreement, graduates of Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) from the regional training center of TESDA in the city will be gathered to undergo a 22-day basic training for linemen to be held at the VECO Development Academy in Barangay Sirao, Cebu City. VECO will also assist in the employment of its graduates. VECO is the second largest electric utility in the country that serves the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, Naga and four municipalities of the greater part of Cebu.

"Linemen work under grueling conditions - stifling heat, torrential rain and high wind. This training is critical to their safety and honing their expertise. The curriculum will include safety courses as well as core modules such as installation, operation and maintenance of power lines,"
