 Philippine TVET Trainers Qualifications Framework

The Filipino trainer performs a central role in the delivery of quality technical-vocational education.

 

 

A TVET trainer enables learners to develop competencies for a particular trade or technical work. In performing his duties, the trainer assumes various roles such as training facilitator, competency assessor, training designer and developer and training supervisor.

 

To qualify and certify the pool of trainers-assessors and ensure their competence, TESDA established and implemented the National TVET Trainers-Assessors Qualification Program (NTTAQP). NTTAQP also provides continuing training and development interventions for TVET trainers, school administrators and supervisors to improve and upgrade delivery of technology-based training.

 

Trainer’s Functions

TESDA expects trainers to demonstrate competencies and be certified thru the Philippine trainer’s qualification framework covers four levels.

• These are Level 1- Trainers-Assessors

• Level II- Training Designers/Developers

• Level III- Training Supervisors and Mentors

• Level IV- Master Trainer

 

A trainer who is already competent and qualified for a particular level may apply for assessment and certification without being certified first in the previous levels. He must, however, possess the level’s entry requirements for certification.

 

The education requirements for certification maybe waived through demonstration of the following equivalent competencies: oral and written English communication, quantitative and qualitative analysis, verbal reasoning, leadership, and research project.
