Launching of the Workshop Building

Balangiga National Agricultural School (BNAS) 15 March 2019, 2:30 PM

Magandang hapon sa inyong lahat.

I am happy to be here during the launching of the workshop building of Balangiga National Agricultural School or BNAS, which will undoubtedly help make our services more accessible to our Kababayan.

Rebuilding this part of the country has been a very big challenge.  The destruction brought to the Philippines by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 is something that will never be forgotten, at least in this generation.

However much pain the disaster had caused this part of the country, the people of Tacloban has shown incomparable strength and resilience. We have risen to the challenge of rebuilding Tacloban and other neighboring areas.

It is also noteworthy to have included in your cause the rebuilding of Balangiga National Agricultural School or BNAS. In our vision for the return of BNAS, we have strived to make this school even bigger and better than what it was before.

When completed, this workshop building will be the new home of this institution’s agricultural technology courses, and at any one time, will be able to accommodate as many as 100 trainees in various training programs.

It will be recalled that it was through the support and initiative of then TESDA Secretary and now Senator Joel Villanueva that the rehabilitation and rebuilding of BNAS’s facilities started.

While these construction projects have largely been also through the TESDA Provincial Office’s capital outlay and this institution’s own income generating projects, we cannot disregard the assistance and efforts of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Department of Public Works and Highways among others.

Eventually, this Php10M building project, housing an agricultural school will be contributing significantly towards TESDA’s initiatives in support of the country’s present thrust for national food security.

The technical vocational education and training from this institution will help achieve the nation’s goals for peace and development.

TESDA is here for everyone who wants to learn and have a gainful and meaningful livelihood or employment afterwards.  Let us all work together to enhance employability of our kababayan.

I would also like to thank the Municipal Mayor of Balangiga, Hon. Randy Graza, PTESD Chairman of Eastern Samar, Mr. Kenneth Enzienzo, the President of the Provincial Association of Public and Private TVIs, Bro. Alexander Abelgas for joining us today and making this event possible.

On behalf of TESDA, I would like to thank and congratulate all our partners who have helped in making BNAS what it is today and what it will be in the coming years.

Muli, maraming salamat po at mabuhay tayong lahat.
