The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has named Wie Ann B. Fajardo of Region VI as the Overall Champion of this year’s Tagsanay 2025 competition, the agency’s annual search for the country’s most outstanding technical vocational trainers.

Fajardo, a Front Office Services NC II trainer representing the Regional Training Center–Iloilo, excelled in all competition categories, demonstrating exceptional instructional skills, creativity, and mastery of TVET principles.

Securing the second place is Robert C. Revilla of Aparri Polytechnic Institute (Region II), while Ronald P. Alvarez of the Provincial Training Center–Zamboanga Sibugay (Region IX) placed third.

In his message, TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez lauded the winners and all participating trainers for their dedication and passion in advancing technical vocational education and training (TVET) in the country.

“Part and parcel of improving trainer quality is giving our trainers the right incentives and recognition, because we want to emphasize that trainers are teachers too. They are not just facilitators of skills. They are mentors of transformation. They deserve the same honor and respect we give to every educator in this country,” Sec. Kiko said.

“As we look to the future, a future of smart factories, green jobs, and digital transformation, we know that technology will keep changing, industries will keep evolving…but the heart of TESDA will always remain the same: our trainers. TESDA’s progress may begin with better facilities and more advanced equipment, but it will always depend on trainers, trainers who teach, who care, and who dare to make a difference,” added the TESDA chief.

Trainers were also recognized with Special Awards for their exemplary performance in various categories.

Robert C. Revilla (Region II) was awarded Best Trainer in Enhancing Training Package; John Emil M. Sioco (Region I), Maiko Gil D. Hiwatig (Region IV-A), Demetrio C. Pable Jr. (NCR), and Rosalino J. Daumar Jr. (Region X) were cited as Most Innovative and Creative Trainers.

Juvelyn R. Camacho (CAR), Norman T. Buan (Region III), Anatol C. Burce (Region V), Ronald P. Alvarez (Region IX), and Roy A. Cabatac (Region XII) were recognized as Best in Data Gathering, Analysis, and Synthesis.

At the same time, Revilla, Burce, and Pable also received the Best in Eco-Innovation Award. Pable was likewise conferred the Viewers’ Choice Award.

The National Tagsanay Award Champion brought home a cash prize of Php 25,000; the 1st Runner-up, Php 20,000; the 2nd Runner-up, Php 15,000; and other finalists received Php 5,000.

The Tagsanay award, now in its 11th year with the theme “Ika-labing-isang Taon ng Pagkilala sa Natatanging Tagsanay ng Makabagong TVET,” serves as TESDA’s flagship program for recognizing exemplary trainers who demonstrate mastery in their field, creativity in teaching, and dedication to the development of learners.

Participants are evaluated through rigorous tests in knowledge, data analysis, innovation, and training enhancement, as well as panel interviews and demonstrations.
