TAGUIG CITY, Philippines – A Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) technology institution in Central Luzon has recently been awarded with a Gold Accreditation by the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).
The Concepcion Vocational School (CVS) in Tarlac was given a score of 478.5 out of 500, following evaluations conducted last June, making it rank fourth among all accredited institutions by the international accreditation organization.
“I commend the CVS for maintaining its upward growth trajectory since its first APACC accreditation in 2008. True to TESDA’s thrust of global competitiveness, they have worked tirelessly in improving their services and facilities,” TESDA Director General, Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña said.
Previously in 2016, the institution was awarded an APACC silver level accreditation which was valid until April 17, 2019.
Currently, CVS has the highest APACC points among Philippine institutions, and will hold its gold-level status until August 4, 2023.
The school was reassessed according to a set APACC criteria including governance and management, teaching and learning, human resources, research and development, image and sustainability, and support to students, among others.
CVS closely trailed in points behind three other Malaysian institutions, Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, Politeknik Ungku Omar, and Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.
“The accreditation awarded to CVS is a source of pride not only for the institution but for the entire country since it gives international recognition to the institution’s quality, accountability and public trust,” according to CVS Administrator, Dr. Alvin L. Yturralde.
The APACC is an accreditation and certification system that reinforces quality technical vocational education and training (TVET) among institutions in the Asia Pacific Region. An APACC accreditation brings benefits which include the international recognition of accredited institutions’ quality, workforce employability, and employer confidence.
It also ensures the eligibility and reliability of TVET providers for funding support from donors and other lending agencies, and membership to the Association of APACC Accreditees for faculty and student exchange, among others.
The CVS joins the Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trades (PPSAT), Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI), Quezon National Agricultural School (QNAS), and the TESDA Women’s Center in the list of Gold-level APACC Accredited institutions in the Philippines.
